MOBILE TYRE FITTING FAQ’S

Answers to frequently asked questions regarding mobile tyre fitting, balancing and puncture repair services provided by Wiltshire Tyres and information for ordering new tyres, payments and booking mobile tyre fitting appointments.

Wiltshire Tyres are a professional mobile tyre fitting service. We are an independent company who have set new standards in car tyre replacement with our mobile tyre replacement service!  The tyre replacement service provided by Wiltshire Tyres is the same, if not better, than the service you would receive if you were to take your car to a static high street depot with the benefits of convenience, competitive pricing and dedicated one to one service.

Tyre prices shown on our website or quoted on the phone are always fully inclusive of mobile tyre fitting at your home or work address, new valves (excluding metal valves or pressure sensor valves), electronic wheel balancing of steel, alloy or centre less wheels (some Peugeot, Citroen and Renault), disposal of any tyres we replace and VAT.

One thing which many people misunderstand and think is included is "Tracking". This is a mechanical adjustment of the steering to make sure that the front wheels of the vehicle are correctly aligned. This setting is not affected when we remove your wheels and replace your tyres. Misalignment is one of the main contributors to premature tyre wear often proving worse on the inner or outer edges of the front tyres. Wiltshire Tyres do not adjust a vehicles alignment / tracking as in order to get a correct reading the vehicle needs to be on a flat surface such as a vehicle ramp and not a surface such as a road, driveway or car park. Although we do not carry out alignment / tracking adjustments with our mobile tyre service, all our technicians are able to advise you whether, in their opinion, your alignment / tracking is set incorrectly and the best course of action to take. This advice can only be given by viewing the worn tyres.

Wiltshire Tyres uses industry standard software that encrypts all your personal information preventing it from being accessed or read by any third party. We do not disclose your details to any third party unless it is necessary to fulfill your order.

To keep you in the loop, your friendly fitter will contact you on the day with a more accurate arrival time. Letting you plan your day, your way!

Yes we can. All the Wiltshire Tyres mobile fitting vans are equipped with puncture repair facilities. Our punctures are repaired to BSAU 159 standard.

Most probably, yes. But there are British Standard guidelines that we have to adhere to. All our vans carry a BSAU 159 Standards Gauge. If the puncture is in the shoulder or side-wall of the tyre it cannot be repaired but if this is the case our tyre technician will show you, using his BSAU159 Gauge.

If you have had a tyre changed or had a puncture repaired and the 'Check Tyre Pressure' message or symbol is still showing, it may need to be reset.

The reset procedure varies for different vehicles, it is best to check the owners' handbook for the exact reset procedure for your vehicle, but it can often be performed in the following ways:

  • Some vehicles reset automatically after about 15 miles of driving.
  • Some vehicles in particular early BMW Minis have a button under the handbrake which is pressed while the ignition is switched on and held down until the indicator goes away.
  • Some vehicles are reset by entering the menu through the trip computer or the satnav and navigating to the 'Tyre Pressure Indicator Reset' or a similarly named option.

The reset procedure often memorises the current tyre pressures, and if any of them are low, you risk memorising an incorrect pressure for other wheels on the vehicle.

The correct air pressure to inflate your tyres is normally written in the owners' handbook for your vehicle. It is also often printed on a sticker which is either under the petrol flap, or stuck to the edge of the driver's door or the door frame. There will often be different pressures given for:

  • Front and back wheels
  • Different tyre sizes
  • Vehicle loading (number of passengers / amount of luggage)

Please make sure you choose the correct pressure, if in doubt call the manufacturer or Wiltshire Tyres for advice.

The ONLY sure way you can accurately find your tyre size is to look on the sidewall of your tyre. Many tyre websites have software that looks up your tyre size from your vehicle registration or model. WE HAVE TESTED THIS SOFTWARE AND IT IS NOT 100% ACCURATE. Sometimes you will get the correct size but when we tested it, it was sometimes wrong.

Wiltshire Tyres do not require a great amount of room to replace your tyres. If you can get in and out of your car easily, both sides, then usually we will have enough room to replace your tyres.

If you have found a cheaper quote elsewhere for the same tyre then just give us a call, we hate to be beaten on price and our price match promise ensures that you will get the most value for your money!

If you can't find the answer you're looking for on our website then just ask us! Send us an email to wiltshiretyres@gmail.com, talk to us on Facebook. Or if you prefer the more traditional approach then just give us a call on 0844 335 0320 and we'll be happy to help! We're open 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.

Our preferred method of payment when we replace your tyres is Debit Card or Credit Card. We accept all major Debit or Credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and Solo. We do not accept American Express or Cheques under any circumstances. We will accept cash if you are unable to pay by Debit or Credit card but please note our fitters do not carry change.  There is a 2% charge for credit card payments, we do NOT charge for debit card transactions.
